This Top of the Rock engagement is a favorite, and one of the reasons Rockefeller Center is a perfect New York City photo location. Nicole and Don wanted to create something iconic in the city before their Saratoga wedding. I met them in the morning so we could be first in line on the elevator up. With film cameras in hand, we created these images.

Film photography is my signature look, although I have a hybrid approach for wedding days. To learn more about when I shoot film on a wedding day read this post. Portraits are beautiful on film, and my favorite way to utilize this medium. All of these images were captured on the Contax 645 with now discontinued Fuji 400h.
Nicole was stunning in her Valentino rock stud heels and Don looked suave in his gray suit. If you were on the fence about dressing up for your engagement session look no further.
When to visit Top of the Rock
This shoot took place in the morning, right when it opened.
The advantage of starting in the morning is that the crowds have not joined. Only a few people can go up at a time, and we shot as if we were the only ones there.

Several notable views can be seen including the Empire State Building and Central Park. I love how iconic they look on black and white film.
