Classic Cape Cod Wedding | Kittanset Club

A classic Cape Cod wedding never goes out of style, especially at the Kittansett Club.

A classic Cape Cod wedding never goes out of style, especially at the Kittansett Club. This waterfront wedding venue only hosts members and the celebrations are unforgettable. Just over an hour outside of Boston, it feels like another world on the golf course watching the sunset. On one such night Cassie and Wes celebrated their love with the most meaningful group of family and friends. See her sister Molly’s wedding at the same location.

Classic Cape Cod Wedding Photographer

Mary Dougherty is a New York based wedding photographer that travels throughout the East Coast creating timeless images for modern couples. As a result her work has been featured in Martha Stewart, Style Me Pretty, Carats & Cake and more… she is a 3x award wedding Image of the Year recipient by Belle Lumiere. She accepts limited wedding commissions and loves spending time with her husband and three kids in the Adirondacks.

It’s hard to know exactly what makes paths cross, but obvious when a relationship is meant to be. While living in Washington, D.C. Cassie and Wes got engaged and it was under the cherry blossoms we photographed an engagement session. Planning an out of state wedding allowed them to be more intentional, knowing the setting and celebration would be emblematic of their relationship. Everything from the dress to the details of the table were classic, elegant and refined. It is no surprise that as an interior designer Cassie creates with a similar sense of style that endures.

Before long every silk ribbon ordered and tied, the flower girl dresses hemmed and each detail secured. The rehearsal dinner allowed everyone a chance to catch up over dinner at the New Bedford Whaling Museum.

Wedding Day Schedule

On the day of the wedding it was time to celebrate. Therefore, guests enjoyed a special lunch of lobster rolls from a favorite local food truck. The bride had hair and make up at the family house while speeches were practiced and bow ties tied. It was a flurry of activity that made time for a first look and family photos before the ceremony. It allowed cocktail hour to go largely uninterrupted, which is always a good choice.

At the end of the night, with lights strung throughout the tent dancing continued for the dedicated few. The bride and groom took in the love from the whole day, and I captured a few of my favorite candid moments. Being surrounded by your favorite people happens just a few times in your life and is something to behold.

Classic Tent Wedding Venues

Where Cape Cod wedding venues are concerned, Kittansett club largely slips under the radar. A well established golf course, it draws golfers from near and far. The beautiful Sperry tent allows classic Cape Cod tented weddings for those connected to the club.

Classic Cape Cod Wedding Style

With Oscar de la Renta shoes and BHLDN dresses the style came together easily in a palette of taupe gingham, shell pink and of course black and white. These little details drew the black tie optional dress code together with a more relaxed vibe. An oceanside wedding does well with a simple color palette.

Thanks for taking the time to look through the story of this day. Cassie + Wes, thanks for inviting me in to your once in a lifetime celebration. To start the process of working with Mary Dougherty and inquire about availability please send a request here and we look forward to hearing from you!

A Chautauqua wedding is stunning no matter the size. Karen and Walker pivoted to host the most amazing micro wedding at this historic American retreat.
