The Shinola Hotel in Detroit hosts beautiful weddings and was the perfect location for a winter engagement session. As a New York and destination wedding photographer I travel frequently throughout the east coast… but coming home to Michigan is always a treat.

I know this city well, and have watched it change since I grew up into a place teeming with inspiration, art and possibilities. Maybe you feel that way about the city you grew up near?

As a result, many people are moving to the Detroit area. I was thrilled my clients Nadia and J now call Michigan home. For their engagement session we settled on shooting downtown, at the beautiful Shinola Hotel. Here you will find the set of beautiful, natural images that shows the ease and elegance in their relationship.

Nadia and J entered university to study the same thing : Economics and History. Little did they know, studying the past would bring them to their future. Cornell brought them together and allowed them to start their relationship. At first just acquaintances, a pivotal trip with friends over break cemented the friendship.

In the summer of 2022, a wedding will take place where it all began, in upstate New York at the beautiful Inns of Aurora. This is one of my favorite finger lake wedding venues.
