a day with mary

I’ve always enjoyed looking back through this blog and seeing the places I’ve visited, people I’ve photographed and things I’ve done. In that way it’s been a selective record of my life for approximately five years. Five Years! that’s a long time to blog especially for someone who starts writing in a journal and abandons it two weeks later. Of course, this is the time of year I share more personal insight into my life, daily happenings and little projects that I don’t have as much time for during the busy season of photographing weddings. So if you stop reading this blog for a while because my life is boring – I completely understand. If, however you are a family member… or perhaps an extended family member and enjoy seeing what my life is like then thanks for sticking around!

I decided to start a new series of posts based around how I spend a day. Not all of these days will be notable, nor will they all be ordinary, but hopefully they’ll contain an interesting mix of both. I’m starting with this Saturday because it was a very out of the ordinary day. At this time of year, ever since Matt and I have been together, we have spent 90% of our Saturdays together at track meets. That has changed with the baby – at least for now – and so this Saturday I had the whole day to myself. It’s both an answer to the question we will soon ask “what did we do before the baby” and a sign that I am in that stage of expectant waiting. I’m too stubborn to be impatient, but instead am enjoying the time to get things done and stock up on sleep.

A classic Cape Cod wedding never goes out of style, especially at the Kittansett Club.

A Chautauqua wedding is stunning no matter the size. Karen and Walker pivoted to host the most amazing micro wedding at this historic American retreat.
