It was one of the last hot summer weekends in September. The gardens were still in bloom and bright color surrounded us. The color complimented Kaytie and Colin perfectly, who were walking hand in hand. It took a while to get used to the ring on her finger but she liked seeing it there. It would be just under a year before they both stared at their hands in amazement of their wedding. A few months ago they were sitting on a bench behind the science museum when Colin got down on one knee and Kaytie swore in disbelief. It was really happening, and as it happens when you are in that elated state of shock and bliss she forgot for a few moments and then remembered to say yes.
For now it was a time of preparation. Engagements are good for that – sometime spent decision making, celebrating, and anticipating the day that would join them. All in all it captures a time that is much more simple a stress free than a wedding can be, and for that reason I love to photograph couples first for their engagement and then on their wedding day. It’s the best way to get used to being in front of the camera and make sure there is one less thing to worry about day of.
Thank you, Kaytie + Colin, for having fun, being yourselves and allowing me to photograph you. I loved getting to know you both more and am so looking forward to join you (and your family and friends) on your wedding day. Here are a few of my favorites!
