Madison Square Park Engagement

As a New York film photographer, Beth and Rory chose a morning in Madison Square Park for their engagement photos.

Madison Square Park engagement photos on film

As a New York film photographer who lives in the Adirondacks, I love the shoot in both the city and in nature. Beth and Rory chose to meet in New York City at Madison Square Park for their engagement session. Being photographed before your wedding is as much about documenting this time of life as it is getting to know each other.

I love that our time together was refine, yet not over complicated. That should be no surprise, since Beth runs the style IG @alwayssimplychic and she literally is just that. Follow her for outfit inspo and go stalk my feed to see all of her looks from her wedding weekend.

In New York city, your park is an extension of your apartment and the green space you know and love. Madison Square Park is that place for Beth and Rory. We met early in the morning on a sunny summer day and enjoyed walking their dog and stopping for coffee. That was essentially the premise, but as you look through the images you can see the variety we captured.

Including your dog in engagement photos

So many of my couples choose to include their dog in either the wedding or engagement photos. I love when we are able to make time for the whole family. Just remember to bring someone else along to help take care of them. It makes the session stress free and allows us to move more easily in capturing images.

Film photos with flash

One of my favorite trends to embrace over the last few years is flash. The editorial look suits weddings so well, and using the Contax G2 has made it so easy to get some of those more intimate and candid images. This set of black and white was shot on Ilford HP5.

We ended our time together at a coffee shop and grabbed some ice coffee to go. I will never say no to that. Of course, I’ll always look for those in between moments. Reach out to inquire about working together for your engagement + wedding weekend.

A classic Cape Cod wedding never goes out of style, especially at the Kittansett Club.

A Chautauqua wedding is stunning no matter the size. Karen and Walker pivoted to host the most amazing micro wedding at this historic American retreat.
