We had last stop on the way out of town. A quick lunch in downtown Raleigh before we hit the road for the last leg of the trip home. We settled on Beasley’s once we saw a small crowd gather outside their doors before opening, and walked through them ourselves a few minutes later. Chicken + waffles was a specialty I had only heard about but it sounded like a perfect meal for our southern farewell.

Finishing a wedding leaves you with a sense of accomplishment… along with exhaustion. They are high energy events that I invest every last drop into, and Tierney who came to second shoot with me did the same. We sat at our table for two with the stress of capturing each moment gone and treated ourselves to some southern delicacies. It was too good to not share with y’all and so we passed the camera back and forth as we talked about the highs and lows of the adventures we had.

Everything there was delicious. Coffee to start, then we ordered chicken (with honey) and waffles to share, mashed potatoes and churros. The menus are only posted on the blackboards on the walls and it kept the table simple and allowed us to look around at what other people were already enjoying. It was actually too much for both of us but we made a valiant effort to finish as much as we could. I don’t think I’ve had friend chicken in years… and I mean like 8 -10 years, and I’ve been missing out.

By the time we were done our napkin ridden table was begging to be cleaned up. We washed our hands and reluctantly said goodbye not knowing when we would be back… but when we are back we will most likely be coming for seconds.

A classic Cape Cod wedding never goes out of style, especially at the Kittansett Club.

A Chautauqua wedding is stunning no matter the size. Karen and Walker pivoted to host the most amazing micro wedding at this historic American retreat.
