On Thursday we celebrated a late birthday dinner with a small group of good friends who we hadn’t seen in months. It was the perfect excuse to enjoy a night together, and to eat at one of my favorite restaurants Good Luck, located in downtown Rochester. Matt’s original plan of a surprise the dinner was spoiled when Sarah called to tell me that she got his message and asked more details… which I played along with (hah sorry Sar!). I actually preferred knowing about it, since it was something I really looked forward to, and finally on Thursday it came.
We had the chef’s table which is a some what private dining area and choose farm to table as the basis for our menu. We learned what cardoons were (a meaty celery like vegetable that is part of a thistle) and also dined on house made fennel spaghetti with ramps, cherry tomatoes, organic egg and green garlic. That was just part of the evening and I took a few images to share with you all. The meal was amazing, the conversation engaging, and the whole night was memorable. It only could have been better if there were a few more good friends in attendance (we missed you!) There’s nothing like getting together with friends, and hopefully it won’t be months until the next time.
