This Living Roots wedding is actually the story of the two winemakers who founded the brand, Colleen and Seb. He calls Australia home, and she hails from Upstate New York. Colleen’s curiosity about winemaking led her across the world to experience a harvest. Serendipitously, it happened to be a vineyard started by Seb’s great-great-great grandfather.
They fell in love, and began to dream up the winery they would start together. It would combined their countries and passion for wine. Today Living Roots is an urban winery in Rochester, New York featuring wine from Australian and the Finger Lakes region.

Naturally, these two know how to entertain. Colleen and Seb’s styles compliment each other as business partners and as a couple. His laid-back Australian ways kept their country club wedding relaxed and understated. Her elegance and attention to detail made it a day their guests are certain to remember.
Wedding bouquet with Australian flora
The bouquets featured Australian flora with prominent white king proteas taking center stage surrounded by blue thistle and eucalyptus. Florist Stacy K Floral created this one-of-a-kind textural green and white bouquet.
Guests had their first glimpse at the day through the gorgeous watercolor invitation suite by Stone Fruit Studio. Greeted with welcome gifts when they arrived for the weekend events, it included many personalized items. For example, a watercolor map with suggested activities and a bottle of Living Roots Dry Rosé.
Genesee Valley Club Wedding
The wedding day began with the bride getting ready at her family home. Colleen wore a simple open back, silk gown with a high neckline from Silk Bridal. The groom enjoyed a casual morning with friends at the apartment they shared above the winery. What made it even more meaningful was giving family – especially those from Australia – a glimpse of the winery before it opened. Seb met Colleen in the tasting room at Living Roots for a first look. It was a moment to pause and celebrate everything they built.
Living Roots Wine poured for the first time as family and friends dined. With the help of Bella + Co Events, the family hosted a beautiful tented wedding at the Genesee Valley Club. Every piece of stationery from invitation to place card to dessert tag coordinated with the moody blue of the bridesmaids’ dresses and the foliage in the centerpieces. Whimsical hanging greenery adorned the tent and paired perfectly with the twinkling lights after the sun went down.
The party lasted well into the night, as everyone danced and enjoyed each other’s company. Their wedding was a perfect celebration of everyone being together and everything they have created.
