Sitting on the edge of the water in Canandaigua, New York is the Inn on the Lake. Perfectly situated to take in the views and a short drive from Rochester makes it an ideal location for a wedding. With the summer sun shining and a breeze blowing (or at times a strong wind) the day began. Emma and her girls were in Rochester at Scott Miller Salon for hair and makeup, while the boys were down in Canandaigua at the inn relaxing.
When you realize you are better together than on your own, and choose to continually put each other first… that’s when you should spend your lives together. This doesn’t happen overnight, but suddenly you find yourself wondering how you could live apart. It was long time since their first year at St. John Fisher. They were introduced by a friend – and while you could say the rest was history – it was a continual choice to be by each others side through ups and downs, to grow together and consider their lives with each other in mind. It was beautiful to witness their relationship.
To say I was looking forward to this day is an understatement. I could not wait to be a part of this Inn on the Lake wedding, and I can’t believe I get to love the work I do. From our first meeting for engagement photos at Good Luck, to a fun bridal session we shot in Highland Park I was able to get to know Emma and Brenden (along with their family) enough that I am going to schedule their family photos for them and show up at their doorstep. They are my kind of people.
Wedding planning is a process that is different for everyone. Being a close part of the wedding preparation for each couple I work with gives me insight into their experience. It was clear that this inn on the lake wedding was one of the most relaxed and enjoyable to plan. It could be since Emma is the youngest of three girls with two weddings under the family’s belt (shout out to Peggy for clearly having things under control – loved my tray of details ready to go!) they were all well prepared.
There were so many beautiful moments in addition to the details of the day – and while I focus my blog posts to include the overall look and feel of a wedding I love to show the moments between people which matter even more. There are too many to pack into a whole post however so most of them are waiting to be discovered in the gallery.
We captured these images at the Arbor Loft – a new venue not yet opened (or finished when we were there) but a perfect spot with clean lines and lots of light. The ceremony was at Spiritus Cristi in downtown Rochester and then everyone headed down to Canandaigua for the party to begin!
The dancing!!! One of my favorites things to watch unfold – this time it was a big part of the evening and so fun to document! Also I think more lip sync battles need to happen and you can see a little slide show of it below. Emma + Brenden and all your amazing family and friends – thank you! I won’t ever forget this day and I hope these images help you enjoy the experience and share it even more!
