The question was not if the wedding would be beautiful, that was a given. Everyone assumed it would be fun, and it exceeded their expectations. It was a matter of where it would happen and when. That’s always the hardest first part of wedding planning. Finally a February wedding in New Jersey at the Mansion on Main Street was planned. After Alyssa graduated medical school and Lucas confirmed his next Air Force assignment they started life together in the same city and began planning this day.
February Wedding in New Jersey
I love to hear how people found my work and what drew them to my style. In this case the story starts way back. Alyssa was on our track team – my husband coached – so we knew her as an amazing athlete for many years. I was so honored when she reached out about wedding photography. I knew she had followed my work + journey for such a long time. In February I went down to New Jersey for her wedding and photographed with my classic yet editorial style. This posts shares my favorites in a way that I think tells the best story from a visual perspective. Visit their full gallery here to make sure you see every detail.

from the bride + groom
Our day was so fun to finally live after planning for so long! We wanted a party everyone would enjoy and people have not stopped talking about how much fun they had. I’m glad you helped us plan the day so we could capture important images without feeling rushed or stressed. We also were able to be there for everything we wanted to. I’ll never forget the moments with my dad before hand. Thanks for making the process So easy. You made Luke and I feel so comfortable in front of the camera which is definitely not easy. You also gave thoughts and opinions when we asked on so much more than photos! Your input helped so much when I felt hesitant or confused. Helping us think through specific groups of people and shots we wanted made family pictures go so quickly. Our entire family loves you!
The Wedding Schedule
A plan and timeline that works for everyone makes all the difference. For me it comes down to making sure there is time, light and that everyone can stay happy. Since no wedding is exactly the same. It takes communication to see what is most important and figuring out how pictures fit in to that. Alyssa and Lucas wanted to make time for pictures, throw an amazing party and have fun. That means they took all of their photos before the ceremony (besides family). They made time for a special moment with her dad, a first look, reception reveal and more. From my opinion it allowed them to say grounded and not get lost in a whirlwind of activity. When the ceremony was over, we just needed a quick break for family photos and then they joined their party. It was next level.
Getting ready with your best friends is an experience that happens less and less the older you get. It’s always worth documenting and sharing a few extra moments in pictures. When Alyssa had her dress on, she absolutely stunning and the most beautiful bride.
After pictures were finished everyone sat down in the light filled Pavillion of the Mansion on Main Street for the ceremony. For a February wedding in New Jersey it definitely felt bright and beautiful.
The fun began after easing into things with cocktail hour. Sole Performance did an amazing job keeping the party going the whole time.
Parents of the bride can’t stop won’t stop. So I’m giving them a slow clap because they threw an amazing wedding for these two. Thanks for inviting me to be a part of it Alyssa + Lucas!
