Whenever I have a free weekend I start planning the food I’ll make and eat. I have a weekend to do work which is much needed; I’ll be heading to Boston on Thursday for a wedding, Portland the week after with our xc team, and then it’s Thanksgiving (at our house!) if you can believe it. A relaxing morning at home calls for a delicious breakfast and nothing is as simple yet delicious as a dutch baby. Maybe you know it by a different name, but it certainly brings me back to the Pancake house in Grosse Pointe where I was first introduced to the dish. Of course, once you know how easy they are to make you’ll always choose something more complicated on the menu – at least that’s what I do when I’m out to eat.
The recipe is three easy steps:
oven at 400
1. melt 2T butter in a pie plate and coat bottom + sides
2. Whisk 2 eggs in a bowl, then add in 1/2c milk, 1/2c flour and a dash of salt and whisk until just combined
3. place in oven for 25min until golden brown + enjoy!
seriously, does it get more simple than that? I like to eat them with blueberries I picked this summer and powdered sugar sprinkled over top. Apparently Jasper does too, because as soon as I took these pictures he had jumped up and knocked it on to the floor. bad dog.
