nyc_hilaryCoordinating a spontaneous trip to New York is not easy, especially with a one year old in the mix, but somehow everything fell into place. Hilary, my high school friend, was visiting from Montana. The last time I saw her was at her wedding, and visits are often few and far between. So when she told me about her trip and asked about possibly meeting up somewhere, I first explained that I lived on the other side of the state… some six hours away. Then I started to think about how I could make a visit happen.

I pitched the idea to Jake and Megan, and both having a itch for adventure they agreed. We drove over Sunday night and drove back Monday night. Leading up to our departure I waffled back and forth over whether it was just too crazy or feasible for us to pull off. In the end we went for it, shared the driving and deftly navigated a little bit of snow. Once in the city we walked around pretending like we didn’t have responsibilities, drank cappuccinos and caught up on life. A face to face conversation just can not be replaced, and I’m so glad I had the chance to catch Hilary while she was in town. Cheers to adventure!

A classic Cape Cod wedding never goes out of style, especially at the Kittansett Club.

A Chautauqua wedding is stunning no matter the size. Karen and Walker pivoted to host the most amazing micro wedding at this historic American retreat.
