The Finger Lakes are home to several amazing venues, and a Sonnenberg Gardens wedding is definitely one of them. In the much loved town of Canandaigua the gardens are quietly tucked away with close access to everything. It was a place Jaclyn new about for years and was an obvious choice for a wedding back home.

Hold on. I know you want to hear about this Sonnenberg Gardens wedding, but this day is so intricately tied to these people – Jaclyn and Michael – and the family and friends that surrounded them. There are a lot of gorgeous images to share, but there are even more moments that have been left out. So in between all of this gorgeousness is the day that tied these two people together. Michael and Jaclyn are equal parts adventurous and laid back, posting more videos of wake surfing than wedding planning leading up to the day, but don’t let that fool you…. they planned a damn good wedding.

Living in Brooklyn and planning from afar can present some challenges, but with the help of Events by Jen it was seamless. Farm to table food took center stage thanks to Root Catering and can you believe the elegant table setting with gold flatware and simple greenery? Love. What I can’t stop talking about is that wedding crop top Jaclyn wore. Wedding gown separates are growing in popularity and I love the simple lines of this dress.

In my opinion, there isn’t one way to plan a wedding. We know that because relationships are different, people are different and we don’t all want to experience the same thing. So, my job as a photographer is not just to be there and document, I mean that sounds so simple right? It’s even more about getting to know the couples I work with and ensuring I capture natural, beautiful moments of their wedding.
