Arriving in Prospect Heights after crossing the Brooklyn Bridge I parked. It was January but it was warm. Our engagement session plan included a tour of the neighborhood. Talking Boomer, the dog for a walk, and then coming back to change and visit La Lou or Ample Hills.

I walked around – going over the plan – then came to their place. Morgan and Conor invited me in and we immediately starting talking. It wasn’t just about their Vermont wedding at The Equinox but Allison Roman’s new cookbook, taking cross-country flights, staying at the Hoxton (I stayed in Williamsburg and they had an upcoming trip to Amsterdam) and more.

Could it be a better start to our Prospect Heights Brooklyn Engagement? Probably not.

Headed towards Vanderbilt we took their lab for a walk (can lab’s ever have enough walks?) and used the brownstones as a backdrop. Then, changing in to something more refined we went out in search of interesting backdrops, drinks and food. Because we had time together we could ease into shooting and avoid the feeling of being overly posed or uncomfortable. One of my favorite sets of images took place in La Lou – I love the look of windows and reflections, so I hope you do too.

To end it all, we stopped by the place they first said they loved each other. I can’t imagine a better way to tell the story of their love and include more than their wedding photos in the final collection they receive.

Planning Brooklyn Engagement Photos

The beautiful thing about engagement sessions is that they are so flexible. There is no strict schedule like a wedding day, no pictures you have to round up everyone for… it’s perfectly you in your normal everyday life. Well, if you don’t dress up often it’s the perfect time to, but other than that it’s you. So where ever you live, or where ever you love to travel, let’s shoot there. Include the things that make you feel at ease or make you feel alive.
