Gather Greene Wedding Pavilion reception design with long tables and floral clouds

A Gather Greene Wedding has never looked so chic. This upstate New York venue sits a top rolling hills. Laurie + Jesse – an interior designer and custom home builder – had a clear vision of what they wanted. A destination wedding without the travel, an escape into an environment they created.

When we started working together, we discovered we had a shared a love for the Adirondacks. Their family camp on Lower Saranac is just a few miles away. To see more Adirondack sessions, click here.

Gather Greene Wedding | Upstate New York Catskills Wedding Venue

The Catskills are accessible for New York City guests. When first walking the property of Gather Greene, they knew this was the blank canvas they wanted to work with. With its rustic charm, this blank slate is not a barn and not a traditional venue. The modern pavilion cast a beautiful offset grid pattern as the sun moves across the sky. It’s a detail of the landscape that is as recognizable as the charming cabins and rolling hills.

Heirloom Fire Catering | An Open Fire Immersive Dining Experience

When it came to their wedding two things were important : the design and the food. They found the dream culinary experience in Heirloom Fire. Using exclusively local and seasonal ingredients, the team is led by founder, chef and creative visionary James Gop. Food comes together on-site, cooked over an open fire and a true immersive experience for guests.

Minimalist Floral Design for a modern wedding

It was important for Laurie to stick to her principles as an Interior Designer and not fall into the common trends of wedding planning. She questioned every tradition and focused on making choices that she believed in despite resistance. This led to timeless and simplistic design choices that make a big impact. Choosing a completely monochromatic floral palette- using only babies’ breath within the pavilion.

Custom wedding illustration

Laurie hand drew the illustrations. They appeared on the cocktail napkins, matchboxes, and shawls that were on each guest’s chair in case it got chilly at the outdoor venue. It was important to Laurie + Jesse that every aspect of the night reflected their true preferences. For example, after the reception- guests enjoyed a casual bonfire with pizza, burgers, and s’mores- instead of a traditional afterparty.

Gather Greene Wedding Accommodations

A weekend for friends, no wedding party duties

Additionally, in lieu of a wedding party of bridesmaids and groomsmen, Laurie and Jesse offered close friends to stay at the cabins on the property for the weekend. It was important for them to create a unique and immersive experience for guests. Most importantly, they were able to share their love of food and Upstate New York.
