If there is one thing that you like, Daphne, it’s animals. You love our dogs and squeal in excitement when they get riled up and start running around the house, not minding their loud barks back and forth one bit. We take you with us to let the chickens out and collect eggs, and watching them is entertainment enough for you as well. A few weeks ago we were at Mendon Ponds Park – so that I could take pictures, no surprise – and you spent the time with your dad watching deer and walking trails. The deer are practically domesticated there, not minding people one bit and practically letting you feed them apples (well not you, little one but almost).
I documented a few of the moments and loved seeing you take in the surroundings. It’s started to get a lot colder and temperatures have certainly dropped, but nothing quiets or inspires you like nature. I expect we will enjoy this winter from indoors and out.
You are such a joy. Not only because you laugh and smile and melt our hearts, but you are you, curious and determined all the while laid back and easy going. I spent a day and half away from you to enjoy a night out with friends and it’s no surprise that you did great. You slept through the night for your dad and it almost seemed that you were fine without me except that you welcomed me home with the biggest smile and hug.
Since you’re past the 9 month mark, I find myself looking forward to your birthday as well as looking back on where I was a year ago. Wow, was I really that pregnant? I think to myself, and now I have a happy little girl by my side. I love it. Not because it is the easiest thing in the world or because our lives are perfect, but because you are wonderful and I love being a family together. I can’t imagine that we will do anything elaborate for your birthday, but maybe I should head over to pinterest and see what I should be doing…
