Cape May Engagement Photos
Cape May, New Jersey is a charming beach town, perfect for engagement photos. Of course, Alexandra and Mike had a connection to the place. Mike’s family has a home on the ocean. It is where they spent a good part of 2020 safe at home. During that time Alexandra sat in on the third floor surrounded by ocean views studying for the bar. Years earlier, the home was the scene of their third date. Mike invited Alexandra to his sister’s wedding… and clearly at that point they knew this was going somewhere.
Cape May Film Photography
While I am a true hybrid photographer (film + digital) the images I love most are often film. For a breakdown of what I typically shoot at a wedding see this post. The images you see here are primarily film – Kodak Portra 400 shot on my Contax 645.
Congress Hall Cape May
We planned a stop at Congress Hall for drinks. The historic hotel is an icon in Cape May. It has so much charm and was a perfect change of scenery from the beach. I’ve heard that staying there is so fun for families, however we decided to stay at La Mer down the road and had a great time. Maybe next time we will try it.
With the sun setting, we stepped out on the beach and took in the amazing sky. Thunderstorms followed us that evening. While it forced us to break up our shooting it gave us the most wonderful color. I am so looking forward to joining these two and their families at Notre Dame for the wedding. It was where they first met and will be an epic weekend celebration.
