Brooklyn Sailboat Engagement

Brooklyn Sailboat Engagement Photos shot at Pilot, a 100 year old wooden boat and home to an oyster bar. New York Photographer Mary Dougherty

These New York City engagement photos took place at Pilot, a 100 year old wooden boat and home to an oyster bar. A waterfront favorite, Pilot is such a fun way to see the sunset over New York City.

When planning their Holman Ranch wedding in California, Izzy and Mike knew meeting up with their photographer on the east coast would be preferred. Once they found me, it was easy to not only join them in the city but plan to travel for their wedding weekend. Most of my weddings are destination and multi-day events, while I take a limited number of each year.

We started our shoot with their adorable pup, went back for an outfit change and walked over to the water. Restaurants are not always accommodating to photography (call ahead an check, like we did) however we arrived for our reservation and they were so welcoming. A date night activity can be a perfect engagement session plan. I recommend finding a place that resonates with what you love and a time of day that sets the mood for how you want to feel.

A classic Cape Cod wedding never goes out of style, especially at the Kittansett Club.

A Chautauqua wedding is stunning no matter the size. Karen and Walker pivoted to host the most amazing micro wedding at this historic American retreat.
