We woke up early to see the sunrise. The plan was to drive to a spot in Arlington that overlooks the city and monuments and take it all in. It didn’t take long to realize the dense fog warning on my weather app was true… and we wouldn’t be able to see a thing. So, we ditched our original plan and headed to northside social for some breakfast. Each time I’m visiting a new place, I like to find (when possible) a favorite little bakery, restaurant or coffee shop. Northside Social fit the bill and while there are normally lines out the door on weekends apparently 7am on a wednesday is a great time to go.

I purposefully brought my camera to document and share the morning with all of you… and especially matt. We are usually together when we find these spots and have great memories at other favorites including Barista (portland, OR), Vergennes Laundry (vergennes, VT), the little grill (harrisonburg, VA), Culture Espresso (NYC), blue moon (saranac lake, NY), Russell Street Deli (detroit, MI)… and I know he would have loved it. You might have noticed we don’t have a favorite spot listed where we currently live… that’s because we live in the country (and when I say country I mean it) and there honestly isn’t much around. We take pleasure in the little trips like these to new places and if you have any to suggest to me I’d love to hear!

About a month ago Matt and I were talking and he said, “remember when you didn’t drink coffee… that was crazy!” It’s true that before I met him I didn’t drink coffee very often at all, but it quickly became part of my everyday routine. At breakfast this morning we split a pot of french press and then before leaving I got a vanilla latte to go. I know, it’s overkill but once again I blame it on the fact that I live in the country… and on matt. As for the striped longsleeve I’m wearing – and have worn too often on this blog – what can I say. I guess the clothes I really like, I wear often, but next time I’ll try to put on something different so you are convinced. happy wednesday!

A classic Cape Cod wedding never goes out of style, especially at the Kittansett Club.

A Chautauqua wedding is stunning no matter the size. Karen and Walker pivoted to host the most amazing micro wedding at this historic American retreat.
