This Adirondack Mountain wedding is special. Outside of Lake Placid is the home of Whiteface Mountain. Here in Wilmington, New York, Savannah and Erik own property and are planning to build a house. Originally, their Adirondack mountain wedding had been planned for the Bark Eater Inn. Once it became necessary to scale back, their property was just the mountain wedding venue they were looking for.
Before adjusting their wedding, Savannah feared a small celebration would not be as fun or memorable. However, it exceeded her expectations. She shared :
“…being surrounded by those most important to me, sharing a good meal and good drinks, and getting married on the property we plan to build our future was better than anything I could have imagined.”
Adirondack Mountain Wedding
I have known Savannah for almost 10 years! Being her photographer was an honor. In fact she interned for Mary Dougherty Photographer way back in the day. Eventually we both moved to the Adirondacks, which we never could have planned.
It was in Lake Placid that she first met Erik. After dating a few years he proposed in Arches National Park on a ski trip to Utah. Outside of the Adirondack mountains, the Utah desert is their next favorite place. While both Savannah and Erik are originally from Long Island, they both feel at home in the mountains.
Bridal Fashion in the Mountains
Are you in love with Savannah’s mountain wedding dress like I am? Savannah didn’t find anything she loved when dress shopping. She knew she wanted something different… but still wanted to feel like a bride.
A trip to New York City changed that. Fashion has always been what Savannah and her mom bonded over. An appointment at Spina bride was exactly the place to find her fashion forward mountain wedding dress.
Savannah knew her wedding dress was not the only element to complete her bridal look. Her mother is a hair stylist and make up artist so the conversation quickly went from dress to hairpieces.
She wanted something bold and found Amaroq. Savannah wore the Oriana crown and it perfectly completed my wedding look.
Mountain Wedding Dress
Savannah tried on Liz Martinez’s Adele gown, and immediately fell in love. It suited the stunning setting and set the tone for the day. Bridal fashion in the mountains has never looked so good.
I was so excited that Erik had gotten me an Alexis Russell ring. She was a designer I started following when I was in college. After seeing her unique rings on pinterest. Erik knew I followed her and picked out something so beautiful, all on his own!
Getting ready for a Adirondack Mountain Wedding
Adirondack Mountain Wedding First Look
When it came to what Erik would be wearing he was pretty secretive. He assured Savannah he would be wearing Navy, even though she begged him to wear green. He would not give any hints about his tie or any other elements in his wedding look. It the first look so exciting!
I couldn’t believe it when I walked up to him and he was wearing a dark green suit! It was such a sweet surprise and I totally loved his reaction to seeing me.
Liquids & Solids Restaurant Wedding Reception
As we navigated planning a second smaller wedding there were two elements that we knew were important no matter the size or location. They are : good, local food and crafty cocktails and beer. It only felt right to ask our friends at our favorite Lake Placid restaurant Liquids and Solids to host our wedding dinner. They were going to cater the big event, so for our small wedding they offered to shut down the restaurant. Over the years Erik and I have have spent so many nights eating and drinking there. It was so special to be able to celebrate our wedding with family and friends in that same building. One of the owners, Keegan, was also the one who recommended we barrel age our cocktails and helped us with recipes. Looking back, I love how involved our little Lake Placid community was with our wedding.
I hope you loved this wedding as much as I did! If so share it with a friend. If you are interested in working together reach out today as I take on a limited number of events each year. I look forward to hearing from you!
