This Dumbo engagement session finally gets to see the world – just in time for their Hudson valley wedding. I love getting back into blogging. Ashley and Jason live in London but relocated from New York. We captured their Dumbo engagement session during one of their visits home. Most of the couples I work with plan from a far – but planning from London (Hayley + Josh xo) is quite the distance. Can you imagine planning what essentially is a reverse destination wedding?

I can’t wait to experience and photograph their day and share the rest of the story… but let’s start here!

Meeting at Bluestone Lane in Dumbo was the perfect place to start our engagement session, and easy walking to the Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Jane’s Carousel and more.

For Ashley + Jason their relationship started at work. More specifically, it started when Jason interviewed Ashley for a job. Secret crushes + hidden romance? Love it. I dated my coach so that’s right up my alley (ps we are married + actually we were dating before he became my coach, but it’s more fun to omit that). Once Jason transferred out of the department their friendship grew and they started dating shortly after.

This has to be one of my favorite photos – but honestly there are so many – because I love that they look at home together. Since we shot in mid day the light was bright, but I love the contrast of the black and white film images with the creamy color of the color ones (hp5 + fuji 400h if you are interested).
