It’s amazing what a few days can do. The snow has melted, birds are chirping and spring seems just around the corner… if it isn’t here already. While these photos seem a bit out of place with the change of weather, we can already start to look back with rose colored glasses and remember just our favorite parts of winter. Sledding in the backyard, a quiet walk through the woods and warming up with some hot chocolate are quintessentially winter, and memories Emily and Michael decided to make a part of their engagement session. The location was Michael’s family home, a place they knew well and loved. Walking through the backyard they remembered summer bonfires by the lake and memories that built their relationship while documenting new ones. I find engagement sessions are most successful when the couple has a connection to the things they are doing, and nothing feels as natural as being at home.
When Emily and Michael first said they wanted to have a snowy engagement session I wasn’t sure if we would have enough snow to do so… but we ended up picking the perfect weekend and documenting one of the last (*I hope) big snows of the year. It’s a great change of scenery to the summer wedding they’re planning this May.
You two are great together. I’m excited to be a small part of your day and document everything… and so glad to have captured these images as well. I hope you enjoy!
