One October evening Liz was working the registration desk at the Walters Art Museum Gala. Ned sauntered in and, spotting her water glass, wondered if she was “drinking on the job already?” Liz was unimpressed by Ned’s sad attempt at a pick-up line, dismissed his advances and sent him on his way. Later that night, having spent a few hours off the clock and on the dance floor, Liz decided to call it a night. Hopping into the elevator to make her way home, she was met by a familiar face. Ned, who had abandoned his friends in a sudden surge of courage, apologized for his opening line, and by the time the elevator doors opened, Liz had agreed to a date. From then on it was adventure, countless dance parties, one dog and a whole lot of falling in love.

If Liz and Ned sound like one of the happiest couples you have or haven’t met, it’s because they are. They have those things a relationship needs to succeed but are difficult to put into words. Of course, I could be biased because spending a Saturday morning with them taking pictures was easy and fun. The time it takes to go from strangers to friends is different with every couple but it was probably around 12 minutes which brings me close to a new record. I’m kidding I don’t keep a record, but I think for the first time in a session brought up listening to Ace of Base in the darkroom while in college, so my secret’s out.

I’m looking forward to meeting all of their family and friends and photographing their wedding day in Pittsburgh this summer… until then enjoy the engagement images we captured a few weeks ago!
