nyc2014After just about 10 days of being sick we finally got out of the house. In fact, we took a semi – spontaneous trip to New York City as a family. So perhaps that’s a little more than just “out of the house” but after being unable to do anything we were desperate for adventure. The day we left I was uncertain we would even make as far as Binghamton. Then, we would be stopped on the side of the road with a crying baby, debating whether we should scrap our weekend in NYC and switch it to a weekend in Binghamton… but let’s be honest that doesn’t sound like much of a vacation at all. Thankfully, we did not come to that point. Our still recovering baby was sleepy for enough of the trip that we entertained only part of the way and still had enough energy to go out for dinner when we arrived.

Our friend and local Long Islander, Savannah, came out to watch the baby in the evening while we pretended to not be tired and waited an hour to eat at Momofuku. There’s a point in time when another hour seems completely reasonable, and thankfully we were rewarded with a delicious meal we won’t forget. Our trip would not have been possible, or as enjoyable, if we had not had Savannah’s help along with that of Megan, our favorite dog sitter. The next day we spent some time walking around the Met, taking in the city, but with the unpredictable and often wet weather we kept our activities to a minimum. Right before leaving we met up with my favorite Canadian / Australia couple who I had not seen since their wedding for flat whites at St. Balmain… and to top it all off we were able to stop Tierney’s on the way home for dinner and playtime. I’m reminded once again of what wonderful people I am able to call friends. I love the chance to visit while traveling and next time I’ll give you some warning so we can plan something!

A classic Cape Cod wedding never goes out of style, especially at the Kittansett Club.

A Chautauqua wedding is stunning no matter the size. Karen and Walker pivoted to host the most amazing micro wedding at this historic American retreat.
