New Year

Happy New Year! Overnight nothing has changed and everything has changed. Although we could approach each day as if it started a new year, I love a collective fresh start. 2014 was a challenging year and not an easy one to explain… but here we are in 2015 and it’s full of hope and possibility.

What I’ve realize by looking back not only on this year – but the past seven years as a photographer – is that change is necessary. At times I am reluctant to change because of the fear of unknown… and in other cases I don’t take the time to plan for change. Both options limit growth, which is the opposite of what I want. I want to be challenged, to have purpose and to have goals that are not just milestones but chapters in my story. So, instead of writing up a list of the things I want to change here in this post, I’m accepting change and facing fears to take steps forward and prepare for the inevitably bumpy road we all experience when we start to move.

The best part is when we share that journey with others, and I’m grateful for so many who have been alongside – and continue to be – in mine. Isn’t it good to remember that we are in the car together? The road might be bumpy but we have music turned up and we’re singing songs at the top of our lungs and falling asleep on each others shoulders. I like traveling that road with you.

A classic Cape Cod wedding never goes out of style, especially at the Kittansett Club.

A Chautauqua wedding is stunning no matter the size. Karen and Walker pivoted to host the most amazing micro wedding at this historic American retreat.
