It was the peak of fall, before the cold really set in, that we met for a Mendon Ponds Park engagement session. In town from New York City for a wedding planning weekend, Shane and Hanna returned to changing leaves and the rolling hills of Rochester. We spent time getting to know each other, talking about life in the city and how their relationship started. It had been a few years since Hanna finished grad school in Boston and made the move to New York, and even longer since they first got together. Now they were planning a wedding at Bristol Harbour and getting ready for marriage.
I love when people tell me secretively, as if I haven’t heard it before, that they are not photogenic. It doesn’t scare me, in fact 9 out of 10 times that’s the way engagement sessions start. Hanna and Shane informed me in advance that they did not love most of the pictures of themselves, so I had the opportunity to not only document their relationship but prove that they had a photogenic side. Maybe it’s just me, but I think they are pretty darn photogenic… and fun people who I enjoyed spending time with. We talked, walked and they rode bikes as I documented and we all got to know each other. Engagement sessions only make me even more excited for the wedding day, since I really get to know a couple in this time. Thanks for trusting me to capture you both and I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from the shoot.
