it’s my birthday! I actually love celebrating birthdays, and even though I seem to keep getting older it’s still fun to celebrate with friends, see what the past year brought and look forward to the next. It learned a great birthday lesson 9 years ago while spending my whole birthday at a track meet. I wasn’t too excited about being gone for the whole day, waking up at 4:30 and getting home at 11 and was ready to pout. I soon realized the day wasn’t really about me, but what I could do for other people. I like being alive, as silly as that sounds, so I think a birthday is a great day to let other people know how much you care about them and enjoy exactly where you’re at. On that track meet birthday I remembered how much I loved running, and decided to use the gifts God gave me to honor him and instead of being upset or doubting my ability I would run and honor Him. I ran my best 800 by 5 seconds. I’ll never forget that birthday and while that was a turning point for my running career it also gave me new perspective on life… as running always seems to do.
I wrote in January about how I didn’t hit it out of the park on Matt’s bday, but he’s already on the right track. We’re going to go out to dinner with friends next week for a fun celebration, but he gave me a few gifts as well. He searched etsy for hours (I love that he looked so hard) and found these foodie letterpress cards by Nourishing Notes with quirky birthday and thank you messages. Seriously, could they be any more perfect? I already gave one away and I can’t wait to use the rest! I love paper goods, food, writing friends and my thoughtful husband. It’s a great day!
