She’s just too adorable… and in this completely unedited photo (I promise, it’s straight out of camera) she is just so precious. Those blue eyes are like jewels and I can hardly believe how gorgeous they are – I can’t wait to see her grow up. My little niece was just one of several family members I was able to see this past Easter weekend. The long trip and short time spent in Michigan also kept me away from all things internet, but I’ll be diving back into business as usual tomorrow. Our drive up also took us by the Vickroy’s, whose wedding I photographed two years ago and whose twins we stopped to meet and photograph. I won’t lie, photographing two newborns is a challenge, but a very good one. It’s also something I want to practice and get better at.

Our Easter was great and most importantly spent with family, although we didn’t have some of the usual Easter traditions. One thing that was missing was the usual lamb cake. Don’t be confused – it’s not meat at all, it’s just a cake in the shape of a lamb. The cake is baked in a cast iron mold and then frosted and usually dusted with coconut for the full lamb effect. I’m not sure at what point my family adopted the tradition, but it has been around for a while. We never lacked in desserts as we dined on blueberry pie, strawberry rhubard crisp, and strawberry shortcake during our time there…. and when you’re visiting your mom’s cooking I at least tend to eat more to make up for the time I’m not there. yum!
