A free weekend can be like a holiday, only coming every so often, much anticipated and celebrated. Back in June when I visited my family and broke the news early that we were expecting, we starting planning a time that would work for me to come back and visit. The past few days happened to be that weekend, and it was also marked by a baby shower celebrated with old friends. Seriously, everyone there had known me for at least 10 years, if not 20 or more! I’m so grateful to have been able to celebrate with everyone and am not ready to be back at home – it’s going to take a day to get in the swing of things.

When we started planning the shower, I wanted to contribute a small part so I said I would take care of the invitations. I had a different idea in mind but when it came down to it I needed to go a less complicated route than the sewing, hand-stamped piece I first envisioned. So, this is what I came up with! I had a few extra yellow folders that the invitation slid in to and a simple piece of washi tape finished the outside seal.

Originally I was hoping to share the design with you as a free download – that you could edit of course with custom text. However, I can’t figure out how to do that. haha. Anyone have suggestions? Instead, if you are interested in creating a printed piece of your own with some of the elements I have the vine and the small banner available to download. The main font I used was Quicksand which is available for free personal use, and the cursive writing is actually my own handwriting using a wacom tablet and the pencil tool in illustrator. I purchased both the cards and yellow folders from paper source and printed them at home. It was a complete diy that was inexpensive and hopefully easy if you want to replicate it. Enjoy!
