NEW YORK + DESTINATION

an intern’s first wedding

Before I get started, I have to confess what a big moment this blog post is. When Mary first asked me to write it, I thought, “No problem! I’ll crank it out tonight.” Two weeks later, I’m sitting here struggling through the 167th version trying to make a good impression on the whole blogging world. […]

Before I get started, I have to confess what a big moment this blog post is. When Mary first asked me to write it, I thought, “No problem! I’ll crank it out tonight.” Two weeks later, I’m sitting here struggling through the 167th version trying to make a good impression on the whole blogging world. This really is a lot harder than it looks.

Two weeks ago I second shot my first wedding with Mary. I’m going to use a medical metaphor since I was planning on being a doctor until this year. I equate fine art photography with a clinical doctor, and wedding photography with and ER doctor. As a wedding photographer, you have to be ready to capture any situation and you don’t always know what’s going to come next. You can only do so much to plan for unpredictability. Thankfully, Lauren + Scott took the stress out of their wedding and it was a great one to “warm up” with. It was like wading in to the shallow end instead of jumping in to the deep end. However, I have an announcement for everyone…. CANNONBALL!

I’m ready to jump in and take on any situation that comes at me. Take a look at some of the images I captured at Lauren + Scott’s wedding above, and look for more updates from me in the future.

A classic Cape Cod wedding never goes out of style, especially at the Kittansett Club.

A Chautauqua wedding is stunning no matter the size. Karen and Walker pivoted to host the most amazing micro wedding at this historic American retreat.
