It took a while to figure out when it would work to photograph Henri, but when a time was decided and I made the trip over and it was totally worth it. Bob + Alice had such a nice place and the combination of windows (natural light) and unique furniture and decoration made it perfect. Alice was actually one of my art profs in college – she taught me furniture design which I enjoyed three classes of.  Her main area of expertise is in ceramics, however, and if you haven’t ever seen her work you should, because not only are you going to want to give it as a gift (wedding, Christmas, etc..) you’re going to want to get some for yourself. Anyways, I was delighted to be able to photograph Henri and capture something they’ll be able to look back on and add to their already well-decorated home.

Who needs a headboard when you have curtains? Who else loves that?

The family was there so it was nice to get some shots with everyone – of course they’re a family of artists which was great because I knew they’d be up for something different, but it’s always a little more intimidating when you’re creating art for other artists. :]

If I didn’t already mention I’m sure you can see that they had some beautiful furniture to work with – it was a dream! This picture above may be more of an outtake, but it just seemed so interesting to me to have the arm in there. There’s an obvious connection between Henri and the unseen person (it was Bob) but with the expression on Henri’s face it makes for a curious photo. That’s just what I think though.

Those blocks in the photo? A gift from his favorite aunt (well, I don’t really know, but with blocks like that she’s got to be in the running) – I know they were ordered on Amazon and are in french so they are très chic so here is the link to the amazon site since I know you want some too.

Last but not least is perhaps my favorite photo of just Henri. How adorable – and those blue eyes are all his, I didn’t photoshop them in or anything. With a face like that I can’t wait to see what he’ll look like in a year – and perhaps you’ll be seeing him again once he’s older. Thanks Alice + Bob you have a beautiful family!
