It was the first day of school. Well, it was one of the first few days of orientation weekend for new students at RIT. Sarah stood in line waiting to get her picture taken for her id card when she noticed someone. She noticed him because he seemed to be looking at her. In fact, if she was reading things right, he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. She brushed it off thinking that they would both blend in to the sea of new faces at school, but their paths crossed again and it wasn’t accidental. That someone turned out to be Mark, who saw Sarah and was smitten. Also from the Philadelphia area, they found that wasn’t the only thing they had in common and their time together grew.
They loved the outdoors, living an adventurous life and challenging each other to be better people. Building their relationship through college and past graduation, they settled down in the Rochester area and decided to live their lives together. Mark proposed and Sarah said yes.
For their engagement session we planned a canoeing adventure on a fall afternoon. Shot near their house on the canal in Pittsford, it just took a little brainstorming and arranging to come up with the idea and make it happen. I love to photograph couples in a way that really captures their personalities and interests. I’m so glad they were willing to put in the work to make these images happen, and had such a fun time documenting this!
