You just know. I mean, you get an impression of someone fairly quickly and it’s easy to decide if you like that impression or not. That’s basically what Nicole told Ben before they met for a first date at Restaurant Good Luck in Rochester, NY. He knew he had to make it count, but after all he wasn’t going to be someone else. So he showed up, she showed up, and they talked the night away making history as they ate delicious food and bonded over their shared love of reading.

There is something to being so sure about the world that you know a good thing when you see it. You just don’t let it get away, and Nicole and Ben have held on to each other to make a relationship that will last the test of time. Last year on the coast of Maine Ben surprised Nicole with the most beautiful bezel set engagement ring and asked her to marry him. She said yes.

When planning their wedding they decided to incorporate their shared love of reading and a book themed diy wedding became a reality. Books were stacked on tables and adorned with vases of flowers, decoupaged on to candle holders and the most stunning feat was the floral book wall they created as a backdrop. It stood in the ballroom at Inn on Broadway behind them as they said their vows and was moved in to the dining room for a perfect backdrop to their cake table. I loved their book wall and please tell me you do to. Should we ask them if they take custom orders?
I loved being there to document and witness this beautiful wedding. Take a look at a few of my favorite images and check the bottom of this post for a list of the talented people that made it happen.

One of the most impressive parts of the day was Nicole + Ben’s ability to keep things under budget. She found her dress from ModCloth on sale for $53 and added a beaded sash to finish her look. Many of the detailed decorations were from Etsy and what they didn’t buy they made themselves!
