It felt kind of like a mistake when I sent it out. Social media and online interactions have the ability to make you feel really good or really terrible about yourself. So, when I sent out a mass email (you can take a look at it here) to invite people to receive news from me in their inbox for the first time ever, I got nervous. Even though I asked people who weren’t interested to unsubscribe, as I saw some unsubscriptions filter in I doubted what I was doing. Then I found out I also had a typo in the letter, and I realized I should have spent the several hours culling the list so there weren’t duplicate addresses or unintentional sends to martha stewart weddings, for example. It definitely keeps you humble to make mistakes!
Then, some people wrote back. They said “keep me on the list” or good to hear from you, and those responses balanced everything out. (ps. if you got the email you’re on the list) It was good to see what people thought – the text in gray was hard to read, they loved the look of the email, and lines of communication were opened with people I hadn’t talked to in a while. It was encouraging!
I would love to be in touch with those people who want to hear from me. I hope to keep things interesting and relevant and if you update your profile that will help me do so! If you’re not on the list and would like to be, take a moment to sign up here. I’ll not only be sharing recent work but behind the scenes stories, tips and advice for photographers, and occasional special offers. Of course, any feedback on what you’d like to see (or wouldn’t) is appreciated! I can take it. :)
