Not everyone is good at celebrating anniversaries. You could include me on that list. The thing is, it only takes a few small decisions to make them memorable and meaningful. I think we can all take some cues from Ali and Zach on how to celebrate them well. I had the privilege of photographing a loft anniversary session for them last month in their Corning, New York home. It was so much fun – not only because I love creating authentic images for people – but because Ali is a talented photographer who I had not yet met in person. She shoots throughout New York as well and uses film – so you should definitely check out her work.

We split the session into two parts : one that was relaxed and at home and included their anniversary cake from Scratch Bakeshop (they give you a new mini cake so you don’t have to eat stale freezer cake! brilliant); the second part of the shoot was dressed up with Ali in her gorgeous Sarah Janks gown and Zach in a linen suit. Enjoy the moments we created at their home and come back tomorrow to see the rest of their shoot!

oh my gosh you guys are gorgeous. Also Zach clearly wins husband of the year for taking pictures for a few hours… not every guy can handle that but when you are married to a photographer, well it’s part of the deal ;)
