New Orleans is a city you fall in love with. I certainly did. Our time in nola was a breath of fresh air, a summer escape after a long New York winter. Walking around in 80 degree weather never felt so good. We visited the French Quarter but mainly explored the garden district and ate as much good food as possible. I’m happy to report that we were successful.

I have been pushing myself to shoot film, so I documented our trip with my contax 645. It wasn’t easy – not only because it’s a heavy camera – but because film really forces you to slow down and think… and sometimes I take too long or shoot too little. However, I love the images I did stop to capture and hope you do as well! Visit the gallery to purchase prints and head over to Instagram today for a giveaway!

I picked up the Wildsam Field Guide for New Orleans and loved reading through the recommendations, stories and history of the place. I wanted to pass it along to one of you so that it could be of use on a future trip. While we were there, I picked up some La Canne Pecan Smoked Sugar and while I haven’t tried it (since I saved it for you) I think it would be perfect in homemade granola, dusting peanut butter cookies or in a simple homemade biscuit – among other things. Cafe du Monde is a classic, and definitely worth a visit, but this trip we skipped it! We went to the lesser known + Wildsam recommended Cafe Beignet. We sat in a small coutryard, had no wait and listed to the musicians you see above play some folk music.  new orleansnew orleansnew orleans

Prints from this post are available in this gallery, which I plan to update regularly with personal work. new orleansnew orleansnew orleansnew orleans

The oyster po-boy at Domilise‘s was amazing – and the Sno – Bliz at Hansens (sadly no picture) might have been the surprise food highlight of the trip. new orleansnew orleansnew orleans

A classic Cape Cod wedding never goes out of style, especially at the Kittansett Club.

A Chautauqua wedding is stunning no matter the size. Karen and Walker pivoted to host the most amazing micro wedding at this historic American retreat.
